| First off, I am looking for a photo of this Snorkel when it was in service for Orange County. She carries serial number F1721 and was built for the Orange County Fire Department in 1974, shop number 5187. She first served as Truck 9 in Mission Viejo and later as Truck 44 in Seal Beach. She was originally built powered by a Detroit Diesel 8v71 with an Allison Automatic transmission and an 85 foot Snorkel. She was retired in 1993 and sold at auction and was purchased by a tree trimming company. At some point, she was repowered with a Detroit Diesel 8v92 and received other modifications. The Snorkel basket has been cut down and the curved windshields have been replaced with flat glass. |
