|This Crown Firecoach pumper was built for South Gate, California. She carries serial number F1477 and served South Gate as
Engine 1. As built, she had an open cab and was powered by a Hall-Scott 1091 gasoline motor with a Fuller 5-speed manual
transmission and fitted with a 1,500gpm Waterous pump and 300 gallon water tank.
When South Gate consolidated its fire protection services with Los Angeles County in 1975, F1477 became LACo Engine 252
and was assigned shop number 49003. Somewhere in the 3 year time span between the two photos, F1477 had been
modernized, typical of the rest of the LACo fleet of Crown apparatus.
