| The Sierra Madre Fire Department purchased this Crown new in 1955. She served as Engine 42 and was originally powered with a Hall-Scott 935 gasoline motor with a Fuller 5-speed manual transmission. She carried Crown Coach serial number F1041. Engine 42 was unfortunately wrecked in 1960 and the City of Sierra Madre decided to return the nearly new rig to Crown to see if it could be rebuilt. This rig re-emerged from the Crown factory in 1961 good as new and was assigned a new serial number, F1235, as part of the rebuilt. She was equipped with a Waterous 1,250gpm pump and a 500 gallon water tank. This rig was modernized in 1982 by AGA Repower. This work included an enclosed cab and a new NTF-350 Cummins diesel motor. |
