This Crown Firecoach was built for the Downey, CA Fire Department in 1961 where she served as Engine 4.  She was originally fitted with a 935 Hall-Scott gasoline motor with a 5-speed manual transmission and fitted with a 1,250gpm pump and 500 gallon water tank.  Upon retirement by Downey in 1988, she was purchased by the City of Santa Fe Springs.
Santa Fe Springs sent this rig to Westates Fire Apparatus in early 1989 where she was extensively rebuilt into a foam carrier.  She was repowered with a Detroit Diesel 6v92TA paired with an Allison 6-speed Automatic transmission.  A new Waterous 1,000gpm pump was installed along with a foam proportioning system and 1,000 gallon foam tank.
This rig carries Crown Coach serial number F1244 and is now owned by a collector.
