The community of Live Oak purchased this Crown Firecoach pumper new in 1970.  She was consolidated into the Central Fire Protection District of Santa Cruz County serving several areas in the County including the Felton Fire Protection District.  Carrying Crown Coach serial number F1627, she was originally powered by a Waukesha gasoline motor with a Spicer 5-speed manual transmission.  In the mid-80s, she was sent to Hi-Tech Fire Apparatus of Oakdale, CA and refurbished.  This work included repowering with a new 335hp Detroit Diesel 6v92 motor and fresh paint.  She is equipped with her original 1,250gpm Waterous pump and 500 gallon water tank.
She was retired and sold to a collector in early 2003.  She exchanged hands a few time since then and is finally in the hands of collector Marc Johnson.  She was purchased by Marc and his family in June of 2006 and driven 2,885 miles from Paradise, CA to Yardley, PA.  Marc writes that she performed flawlessly and made the entire trip without incident.  She has appeared at several events already including the Sparta (NJ) Township 4th of July Parade and the Gibson Road Muster in Pennsylvania at which she took first place for best looking privately owned rig.
