This attractive wide cab pumper was built as a stock unit by Crown in 1980 and carried serial number F1844.  It was built with disk brakes instead of traditional drum brakes found on trucks at the time.  Although the experiment proved successfull, it was the only Crown built with disk brakes.
She was later bought by the City of San Clemente in southern Orange  County and served the fire department as Engine 3.  In the late 80s when San Clemente contracted its fire services to the Orange County Fire Department, this rig was sold and did not become part of the Orange County fleet.
The City of San Clemente sold F1844 to the town of Etna, CA.  I was able to confirm that this rig is in service at Etna in December of 2007 and is in very poor condition.
