| This 1955 Crown Firecoach, serial number F1048, was built for the Montebello Fire Department where she served as Engine 2. As originally equipped, she was powered by a Hall-Scott 1091 gasoline motor with a Fuller 5-speed manual transmission and fitted with a Waterous 1,500gpm pump, 500 gallon water tank, and a Byron-Jackson high pressure booster pump. She was sold in 1981 to the Seal Beach Fire Department where she was assigned to Engine 4. When Seal Beach contracted its fire protection with Orange County, she became Engine 44. She was rebuilt and repowered in the late 80's, with a Detroit Diesel 6v92 and an Allison Automatic transmission and then assigned to Engine 11 in Laguna Beach. Her last assignment was Station 31 in Mission Viejo where she was used by the Fire Explorer Scouts. She was sold at auction in 2004 and is now owned by collector Art Thompson. |
