|The City of Monrovia, California purchased this pumper new from Crown in 1961. She is powered with a Hall-Scott 1091
gasoline motor with a 5-speed manual transmission and is fitted with a 1,250gpm Waterous pump and 500 gallon water
tank. Built with an open cab, the unusual and unique roof was added early on. Another item of interest is the unique from
discharge located where the air horn was normally located. She carries Crown Coach serial number F1246.
After being retired by the Monrovia Fire Department, she was purchased by the town of Brookside, Utah where she ran as
Engine 172. F1246 was rendered surplus by a government grant for a new rig and was sold by Brookside to a collector in
early 2008. She was eventually sold to Bruce Vanderhorst who is in the process of restoring this rig.
