| The Menlo Park Fire Department purchased Engine 1 in 1979. She is powered by a Detroit Diesel 8v92TAC paired with an Allison Automatic transmission. She is fitted with a 1,500gpm Waterous pump, 500 gallon tank and carries serial number F1813. Prior to retirement, she served as Engine 3. When the City of Menlo Park retired this Crown pumper, it was purchased by a fire sprinkler contractor for testing dry standpipe systems. She was later acquired by an equipment dealer who sold this rig on eBay in 2005. Apparently, she was purchased by an individual who donated her to the Baldwin Lake Volunteer Fire Department in southern California. The Baldwin Lake Volunteers began refurbishing this rig and they decided in mid-2006 to sell it instead as a newer rig had become available. She is now owned by a collector. |
