F1171 was purchaed new by the City of Compton in 1959 where she served as Engine 42.  She was outfitted with a Hall-Scott 590 gasoline engine, Spicer 5-speed manual transmission, Waterous 1,000gpm pump and a 500 gallon water tank.  Sadly, having survived the 1965 Watts Riots, and believed to have last served in the 1992 LA Riots, F1171 did not survive the test of time.  She sat stripped and forgotten for many years behind Compton College before being scrapped in November of 2003.  The cab managed to be saved, destined to become a bar in a firefighters garage.
