The Compton Fire Department purchased F1640 in 1970 where she originally served as Engine 1.  Built new with an open cab, F1640 was later returned to Crown to have the cab enclosed.  As built, she was powered by a Cummins 855 diesel engine, Spicer 5-speed manual transmission and fitted with a Waterous 1,250gpm pump and 500 gallon water tank.  F1640 is pictured here serving as a training rig pending retirement.
