The Gardena Fire Department purchased this Snorkel fitted to a Pierce body mounted on a Oshkosh cab and chassis in 1972.
She served as Truck 1 and was powered by a Detroit Diesel 8v71 with an Allison Automatic transmission.  She was fitted with
an 85 foot Snorkel.  This rig was assigned Pierce serial number 74326.  In early 1989, the City of Gardena sold this rig to the
County of Riverside which placed this rig into service in Palm Desert.
Crown Coach Corp. was the west coast marketing and sales agent for Pierce Fire Apparatus.  These rigs were commonly
known for having Crown badges affixed to them by employees when they arrived in the Crown plant in Los Angeles for set up
prior to delivery.  In this case in addition to the Crown emblems, this Snorkel received Firecoach style turn signal brackets below
the headlights for the arrow type turn signals.
